PAUL VALLARIO
Co-President
|
Co-President Paul
started full time at M&V in 1963. Prior to that, he worked in managerial
positions at The Port of New York Authority and The Western Electric Company in
Manhattan. Paul started out with dual responsibilities in the manufacturing and
order making departments. Eventually he took over direction of the processing
department. Later on, in 1975, when the founder, Joseph Vallario retired, Paul
took over as President of M&V Provisions and his partner Anthony (Tony)
Ciuffo assumed the office of Executive Vice President. He and Tony have been
together, at M&V, for 44 years and have shared control and direction of the
company since Joseph Vallario retired.
Paul
has undergraduate and graduate degrees in business. In addition to M&V Paul
has helped start and run 3 successful car wash businesses, 2 Executive Fitness
centers, a Boating publication, a retail food outlet, a Music and Publishing
company and several real estate ventures including a large
commercial/residential condo complex in Brooklyn.
His
special interests off the job are boating, , and music. He is a member
of the Songwriters Guild of America and is a published songwriter. Two of his
songs; "There Was a Time in America" and "Hey Now" were just released (April
07), in a new album called "Real Music." This album was a joint collaboration
between Black Rose Productions and Bulldog Evans records. A DVD of "There Was a
Time in America" has also been contracted by MTV for a new music channel they
are coming out with. This particular song was the subject of newspaper articles
several years ago, including a Newsday Special Feature Article. Paul has
appeared on radio and TV discussing the subject matter of that song which is
school violence and its' cause.
In
spite of all those accomplishments, his greatest love is his family. He is
married to his wife Marie since 1961 and they have three children: Marian,
Joseph and Paul Jr., as well as six grandchildren: Colin, Jessica, Shayna,
Leah, Jack and Gianna. (at last count).
Paul
feels that M&V's strongest point has always been and still is its'
willingness and ability to fulfill its' customers needs better than any of its'
competitors. That includes more products, faster service, better purchasing, a
very strong, hands-on hard-working management and supervisory team, and
utilization of the latest high tech tools. Equally important is the reputation
for honesty and straight-shooting that M&V has earned over the years.
Paul
is very proud that there are three generations of family involved in the
business. He looks forward to the future of M&V and feels certain that the
younger generation of family and non-family managers will carry on M&V's
traditions through the next 50 years.
